Pommerehn likes his work to be in a direct relationship with the community in which he lives and works. He prefers to be in a close dialog with the environment around him and therefore has chosen often to work with other members of the society such as non artistic professionals, school children, young adults and persons in extreme situations such as political refugees, prisoners and persons with physical or mental disabilities.

His interest in using art and culture as vehicles for learning have inspired a series of projects based on introducing philosophical works to young children. In the fall of 2011 he realized together with Julia Schreiner and Rudi Keiler Gómez de Mello, Die Wittgensteinkinder (Wittgenstein Kids). Plans are underway to continue this work and collaboration in 2013/2014 with a new project Nietzsche Next Generation. Together with the Wilhelm-Liebknecht, Namik- Kemal Bibliothek and the Jens-Nydahl Grundschule.

A theater production based on the Metalogues of Gregory Bateson has been done in Germany and in Sweden. Plans for a production in Denmark are developing. A new project based on the works of Heinz von Foerster will open in Berlin May 2013.
